Everything I do now started with Visa

We are known for our products, but who are we really? Throughout the year, we give a look behind the scenes. We start with the person who registered Business to You at the Chamber of Commerce 17 years ago: Hans Bouman, the owner.

“I remember very well where I came from and I realise that this is when the future I am living now began. Still every day I am grateful to be the owner of a fantastic e-commerce company. It started with Visa!”

First steps at Visa

“From customer service to functional systems management and then, as the internet was still in its infancy, I started working on online payments as a project leader. I knew all the systems at one point, so it was a logical step, when Visa wanted to introduce online payments, to make me project leader. In my nine years at Visa, I was given lots of opportunities and I always grabbed them with both hands! That’s how I was promoted to another position within Visa four times. It’s incredibly cool when you are given that space and trust. As a result, I have been involved in e-commerce since 1996. All those years of experience are incredibly valuable and were the basis for starting Business to You for myself in 2001. In 2002, I successfully introduced Ogone in the Netherlands as ad interim director. In 2005, Ogone asked me to join the company, but I was not keen. I didn’t want to manage so many employees as a manager, I wanted to stay close to the customer!”

A succesful own company

Managing a company with six employees suits me better and I really enjoy doing that. With a small team, the lines are short, we can act fast and get a lot done. My work is very varied because we are active in various areas I can really put my heart into: payments, security and web shops. For me as the son of a teaching family, there is nothing I enjoy more than passing on knowledge and helping customers with all their questions. This can be very diverse given the different sectors we serve, such as football clubs, municipalities, theatres and hotels. In these sectors, you have to deal with different systems, processes and suppliers than in regular e-commerce.”

We constantly try to keep up with the many developments in e-commerce, payments and security and are happy to support our customers with this knowledge!
